Now that the football season is over, and the basketball season is already mid way through, I thought it’d be only be smart to start talking about this basketball team of ours that is highly under hyped and doesn’t deserve enough credit.
I’m not sure if it’s because our football team is so gosh darn amazing, but I never really here about people on campus buzzing about the schools basketball team. In fact, I’m not one to talk because before today I wasn’t even sure what our teams record was and have only witnessed a couple brief quarters in only a few games this entire season. But that’s all over with now because I’m here to hype up this team whether people believe they deserve it or not.
So first things first. The Ducks are currently 12-5 overall, and our sitting one game behind the front runner of the Pac 12 with a 3-2 conference record. They are coming off of a 9 point win in Phoenix, Arizona beating the Sun Devils to get their third conference win. Next up is actually today as they head not to far but just down the road to Tempe where they will be playing the Arizona Wildcats (12-5, 3-1). At the beginning of this year the Wildcats were given much hype to become one of the favorites of the Pac 12. However after losing star forward Derrick Williams, it seemed like the Cats weren’t going to be able to succeed as much as they hoped after losing all of their important non-conference games. However now that conference play has begun it looks like Arizona will once again be in the mix of one of the teams to finish in first.
For the Ducks, I believe they have one main goal. To continue to play their entire games without giving up. Oregon still has a shot to win a lot of games and put themselves in a good place for the Pac 12, and when that happens they have a good chance to make it to the big dance come March.
For now on I will be currently focusing on giving updates on both the men and women’s basketball teams, and hyping them up! Go Ducks!
